DirectX 10 is the latest version of the DirectX suite of multimedia application programming interfaces that Microsoft has built exclusively into its latest operating system,
Windows Vista. Gaming enthusiasts will only be able to access DirectX 10 via a combination of one of the latest video cards and one of the editions of Windows Vista. These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Microsoft Vista, and increase hardware compatibility even on Vista, by compiling Geometry Shaders down to native machine code for execution where hardware isn't capable of running it. No longer will you have to upgrade your OS and video card(s) to play the latest games," revealed Cody Brocious, Lead Engineer on the Alky Project.

With Windows Vista, Microsoft has also overhauled the DirectX driver architecture in the operating system. However, Microsoft does not offer backward compatibility with previous Windows platforms for the new Windows Display Driver Model in Vista.
These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Microsoft Vista and increase hardware compatibility..

The current preview allows you to run a number of examples from the DirectX SDK on Windows XP. They're not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but we want to whet your appetite. We hope to release builds in the coming months progressing from demos to fully functional games.

Pimp My Ride was originally released late last year on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2. Mixing a lousy driving game with completely pointless minigames that barely tied everything together into something that vaguely resembled the concept of the show, it was a poor piece of work. Now the game has come to the PSP, and it is with no amount of exaggeration that we state that Pimp My Ride is, hands down, the worst console-to-PSP port to date. Think of every single issue that’s ever plagued a console game translated to the PSP, combine them all with a game that was already no fun to begin with, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of where this game stands. Toss in the fact that Activision is charging $40 for this busted piece of junk, and Pimp My Ride goes from merely awful to outrageously abysmal in a split second.

Directx.com was originally registered to us back in the mid 90's. At that time DirectX was a new multimedia technology that Microsoft was introducing. We were working in DirectX and related technology and thought that it'd be a good location on the Internet. We never thought that Microsoft would later turn it into a brand name.

Microsoft DirectX is a collection of application programming interfaces for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming and video, on Microsoft platforms. Connect cable to computer and phone
Set proper COM cable (must be, between 1 and 9)
Download unlocker, run `install.bat`
Open file c:/bb5_unlocker/logs/bb5_unlocker.cfg with a text editor set proper COM port (1-9)
Run c:/bb5 unlocker/BB5logunlocker.exe
Turn phone on. While it is turning on, click READ PHONE. You should see "DONE"
Click MAKE LOG, a log will be created. This log is used to generate the codes. Wait until you see "DONE".
Log file is in folder LOGS. Start BB5_calc.exe to make the PSW file.
Press button SP UNLOCK and unlock your phone.

Driving games remain a mostly unexplored frontier. Flight simulators give you the whole countryside, spaceflight simulators give you the galaxy, but most driving games give you about six tracks. With few exceptions, in driving games you never really get the sense of freedom that the motor vehicle, in that ideal world as portrayed in car commercials, is supposed to provide. That's why Midtown Madness, because of its ambitious scope, stands poised to redefine the genre's standards: The game doesn't contain traditional tracks, so much as the entire city of Chicago mapped out by the block, complete with all its famous landmarks from the Sears Tower to Wrigley Field. The city lives and breathes rather like the real thing, with variable traffic and weather conditions, pedestrians, traffic lights, cops, and freeways. And you get to drive wherever you want within the windy city, and however you want. Although its driving mechanics aren't terribly sophisticated, it can be a lot of fun because it affords you that very freedom that all driving games should but rarely deliver.

DirectX 10 is the latest version of the DirectX suite of multimedia application programming interfaces that Microsoft has built exclusively into its latest operating system,
Windows Vista. Gaming enthusiasts will only be able to access DirectX 10 via a combination of one of the latest video cards and one of the editions of Windows Vista. These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Microsoft Vista, and increase hardware compatibility even on Vista, by compiling Geometry Shaders down to native machine code for execution where hardware isn’t capable of running it. No longer will you have to upgrade your OS and video card(s) to play the latest games,” revealed Cody Brocious, Lead Engineer on the Alky Project.

With Windows Vista, Microsoft has also overhauled the DirectX driver architecture in the operating system. However, Microsoft does not offer backward compatibility with previous Windows platforms for the new Windows Display Driver Model in Vista.
These libraries allow the use of DirectX 10 games on platforms other than Microsoft Vista and increase hardware compatibility..

The current preview allows you to run a number of examples from the DirectX SDK on Windows XP. They’re not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but we want to whet your appetite. We hope to release builds in the coming months progressing from demos to fully functional games.

Inside this zip is a README.TXT file with complete instructions on where to install the files (don’t worry, we’ll have an installer in the near future) and how to get and run the examples from the SDK.

KeyMap v1.1 is a freeware utility by the Chinese developer the3sky for Nokia S60 3rd Edition based mobile devices that allows you to change the originally assigned hardware joystick keys in a Symbian or Java games to any other custom key on the numberpad that you want! For example, you can map the Up arrow key on your joystick to number 5 or the Left arrow key to number 1 depending on whatever is convinient for you.

The iPhone community is gung-ho about the various native applications being released without support from Apple in the form of SDK. After a Screenshot Capture utility, TUAW reports of another great entertainment utility: Nintendo NES Emulator.

Now you can play classic ROMs such as Super Mario Bros, Zelda or Mega Man on your iPhone. The controllers are displayed and mapped with virtual buttons on the touch screen itself. Still in nascent stage, the gameplay is very slow. An optimized version with poor graphics is also available.

ROMs need to be placed in /var/root/Media/ROMs/NES dierctory.

The GBATemp forum reports that SvSIP, a free native homebrew application for Nintendo DS gaming handheld that allows users to make free Voip SIP calls through WiFi using a free SIP provider (list of Voip providers), is available for download. The application requires the storage card to be dldi patched in order to be installed. DLDI is an addon that increases homebrew compatibility for different devices by letting you patch homebrew to work specifically with your device.

Instructions for usage:

Nintendo DS Voip SIP

+ Uncompress and extract files in the Zip archive to the filesystem root of your memory card.
+ Create a directory called svsip.
+ In this directory, define parameters of your SIP account in config.txt.
+ Use another application like Mario Kart DS to configure WiFI WLAN.
+ Press ‘A’ to quit application.
+ A log file is created in the svsip directory.

The config.txt included with the application has inline comments and examples to help you configure your Vop-SIP provider. An example of Voipbuster’s configuration can be found here.

Glove Programmable Input Emulator (GlovePIE) is a free emulator for HID Input devices using Bluetooth. GlovePIE allows you to play games on your PC or control any software or task on your desktop computer using an external input device of your choice such as keyboard, mouse, trackball, joystick, gamepad, microphone or Nintendo Wiimote, even if the input type is not supported by sending fake keyboard keys, joystick actions, mouse moves, midi input or speech input to that program, application or game.

For example, you can emulate the joystick in a keyboard-only game (eg. Doom 3), the keyboard in a joystick-only game (such as Return Of The King Co-op mode). You can even create macros to do complex moves at the touch of a button (for games such as Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter) using Wiimote or play musical instruments from your PC using any the gamepad!

With GlovePIE, you can emulate the following HID input device:

+ Mouse
+ Keyboard (on windows 2000 and XP)
+ Multiple joysticks or gamepad controllers
+ Multiple MIDI devices
+ Microphone input

All this is done with the help of scripts. While GlovePIE contains some ready made scripts, you can also create your own script for custom actions or download some from the web. Creating scripts is quite easy using the GUI. For example, if you want to have the “Enter” key pressed whenever you shake the Nunchuk, simply shake the Nunchuk while GlovePIE is in detection mode, and then tell it to hit the “Enter” key for that motion.

PSPKVM is a free Java J2ME Virtual Machine Emulator that enables users to run MIDP 2.0 compatible applications and games in JAR format, created using Java 2 Platform Micro Edition, on a Sony PlayStation Portable device. With the latest release, another J2ME/MIDP port, pspME, has been merged with the PSPKVM project to improve the quality of JVMs available for the PSP platform. When you sign into a website, your login information is stored in a text file called cookie which remains active till you are signed in. Therefore, you cannot login into another account from the same service provider at the same time until you log out from the site and the cookie is cleared. In this guide, I will show you how to login/sign into multiple instances of websites and emails accounts from the same service provider at the same time without logging off or signing out using Internet Explorer, Opera or Mozilla Firefox.

Method I for Mozilla Firefox users:

There is a great addon called CookieSwap which allows you to create and manage ‘profiles’ of cookies that you can swap in real-time, allowing you to sign into multiple instances of the same website or webmail without logging off.

After you download and install CookieSwap, you will notice a new CookieSwap profile icon at the bottom of Firefox. Whenever you want to sign into another instance of the same service, open a new window or tab, right click on the CookieSwap icon, choose the cookie profile and then visit the website.
By default, there are only three profiles. To add more cookies profiles, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\u8iiyrst.default\CookieSwap and create a new file called cookies_Profilen.txt where “n” is the next profile number in sequence. Make sure you restart Firefox after adding new profiles.

Method II for Internet Explorer, Opera and Mozilla Firefox:

This method takes advantage of the Run As function of Windows OS. Basically you need to create multiple Windows accounts (Start—>Run—>Lusrmgr.msc) and then launch any web browser by right clicking on the browser executable and choosing “Run As…”. Any cookies launched using this method are saved under the profile of the user with whose account you ran the browser.

To always launch your favorite web browser using Run As, create a shortcut of the executable to your desktop. Right click on the shortcut and go to properties. Click on the advanced button and check “Run with different credentials”

There is a new hack available from XDA-Developers forum allowing you to use your Windows Mobile 6 Pocket PC device as an ad-hoc WiFi WLAN Access Point for your desktop computer. As you would know, Internet Sharing is a new utility in Windows Mobile 6 that allows you to share your Pocket PC’s internet connection using Bluetooth PAN profile. With this hack, users would be able to use the Internet Sharing utility over Wi-Fi WLAN.

Windows Mobile 6 Internet Sharing via WiFi WLAN

Instructions:

+ Goto Start—> Programs—>Internet Sharing. Enable Internet Sharing for Bluetooth PAN.
+ Using a free registry editor, change HKLM\Comm\ConnectionSharing\PrivateInterface to “TIACXWLN1″ (current value would be “BTPAN1″).
+ Goto Start—> Settings—> Connections -> Wi-Fi , select the Network Adapters tab and choose IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi.
+ Enter an IP address 192.168.1.1 and a subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Click OK.
+ Select the Wireless tab, click on Add New, enter the Network name for your ad-hoc network and make sure to select “This is a device-to-device (ad-hoc) connection”
+ After clicking Next, you can set up whether you need encryption (WEP or WPA) or not. If not, just set “Data encryption” to “Disabled”
+ Now from the list of available network connections, select the newly added network and click Connect
+ From your desktop client or another mobile device, search for this ad-hoc network and start using the WiFi

DirectX 10.1 is an extension to DX 10.0 by Microsoft available in Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Build 6001.16659 and Windows Server 2008 codenamed Longhorn . As per Softpedia, the new features of DirectX 10.1 can be divided into three general categories: new shading and texturing capabilities, anti-aliasing improvements, and tighter specifications, the details of which can be found in AMD-ATI’s whitepaper for DX 10.1.

Advantages include global illumination delivering lighting and shadow quality in real-time that matches the ray tracing techniques used in CG films, improved anti-aliasing techniques to clean up distracting shimmering artifacts, and tighter specifications for improved compatibility.

Utilizing the new features of DirectX 10.1 will require you to have a new GPU hardware such as ATI Radeon HD 3800. But it is obviously backward compatible with any graphic card.

To download Direct X 10.1 for Windows Vista, you will need to install Service Pack 1 through Windows Update Services using a registry hack.

Instructions:

1) Save this text file as File.cmd
2) Then run the batch file with elevated administrator privileges.
3) Install and reboot the computer after installing each update: KB935509, KB937287 and KB93837.
4) After the final reboot, you will get the option to download Windows Vista SP1 in Windows Update.
5) Verify that you have DirectX 10.1 by running dxdiag from the command prompt.

Nokia has announced has announced the pre-release version of the N-Gage gaming application called N-Gage First Access for Nokia N81 and other S60 v3 mobile devices. This pre-release software versioned 1.0 is the near final version of the N-Gage First Access application with some differences in features and functionality.

As previously covered here, the N-Gage service allow users to download, preview and play all N-Gage games for free on their NSeries mobile phone and buy a game through the device or desktop PC. Users can also connect to friends and other players in the N-Gage Arena community and play multiplayer games with them from their S60 device.

When you first go online with this pre-release version of the N-Gage application, you will be prompted to create an N-Gage Player Name and password, and provide an email address. This will be your temporary First Access Player Name that will be valid for the duration of N-Gage First Access.

There are several N-Gage game trials bundled within the download zip file. However Nokia will be adding additional games to the Games Showroom on the pre-release version of the software on an ongoing basis.

Not too long after Microsoft had released a developer build of the Windows 7 Milestone 1 release to a select few, review and opinion pieces started to leak onto Windows enthusiast sites by OEM employees or their beneficiaries. So it's hardly surprising that now -just a few days later, the full naked DVD image has started to show up on a few torrent sites.

Anonymous pirates vying to snatch credit for the first Windows 7 torrent have only served to frustrate, with many of the downloaders later verifying the various submissions as fake zero byte ISO images, and while we haven't been able to verify for ourselves if indeed a valid Win7 image has been leaked to the pirating community, it sure is stirring up a lot of interest in the past 24 hours!
