Connect

1. Connect directly from your messages link in the standby menu.

Tips
* Make sure to disconnect or hang up after the messages download or the connection will remain open and you won’t be able to receive phone calls.
* Your carrier must also support Circuit Switched Data services (CSD) and your data connection rates in the US will be 9.6K.

The following screenshot explain how you could use a Linux fedora core 3 running the program “bluetest.pl”
to hack via Bluetooth into Nokia 6600 (Other version will also work but require minor program modification.

1. Start the Bluetooth Hardware from your Laptop (ie. - FN + F5 for IBM laptop)

2. Start the service for Bluetooth on your Fedora Server (See SS).

a) You can expand your SMS Memory:

1. Browse to the folder /ifs/settings/messaging/ with FAR Manager
2. select pref_store.txt an hit F4
3. Just change "/smsdata" in "/tpa"
4. Save the changes
5. go back to "root" like mb-new description and shutdown the loader
6. Now restart your Phone and be happy

b) set ring volume as player volume

Copy file farfield_play.apf to any folder of PC, rename it to farfield_ring.apf and copy back. So file farfield_ring.apf in phone is replaced by file with settings of farfield_play.apf.
Now we have 2 same files but different names.

e) Change sms sounds

delete message alert and put new one but with same name (messagealert1,messagealert2....)

f) get rid of discharge battery sound

go to FStpapresetsystemsoundlowbattery.mid and replace it the same name file with zero size.

g) Shutdown Sound

navigate to /fs/tpa/preset/system/settings

place any mp3 in there and rename to SHUTDOWN_SOUND_SEMC.mp3 and it will play it when you shut down the phone.

1. Install a file manager on infected bluetooth enabled mobile phone device.
2. Configure the filemanager to show even system files.
3. Open \system\apps\commwarrior directory & delete the commwarrior.exe and commrec.mdl files.
4. Open \system\updates\commwarrior directory & delete the commwarrior.exe, commrec.mdl and commw.sis files.
5. Open \system\recogs directory & delete the commrec.mdl file
6. Sometimes the Infected device might have to be restarted before some of the above files can be deleted.
7. Switch off ur mobile phone and switch it back on.

The infected device should now be clean and safe to use.

CONVERT A 512 MB duo/produo/MMC CARD TO 640 MB

DO YOU GUYS WANT TO CONVERT A 512 MB duo/produo/MMC CARD TO 640 MB AT NO COST AT ALL.THEN READ ON...
I guess it works for duo/produo/mmc cards.
Your files in duo/produo/MMC is stored in multiple (disk) blocks.
So if you format using 16K block, the space used will be 16K eventhough your file is just 1K.

If you buy DUO/PRO-DUO, it is usually preformatted with 16K block. Therefore a lot of space is wasted as most installed program files are usually less than 2K.

You will need a card reader to do this:-

1. Connect card reader and copy all your files in the memory card to computer disk.
(Make sure you set the show all/hidden/os files to "on")
2. Do a format of the memory card using command line "format" and use the /A=size option.
Alternative, you can use the Disk Management in Adminstrative Tools to format.
Make sure you select FAT16. For 256MB memory card, smallest block you can use is 4K, 128MB is 2K, 64Mb is 1K and 32MB is 512B.

(Note: You cannot use the phone "format ext.mem" to do this as the format just clear the allocation table and does not change the block size)

3. Copy back all files to memory card.

Now you will find that you will have more space.
I have installed many software to to my 256MB memory card and it is nearly full. After doing above, I got an "extra" 32MB.

For those who have problem with command line format::

Just use the Disk Managament to format

1. Goto Start->control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer management->Disk management
2. Select your memory card/usb drive. Right-click and select "Format"
3. Select "FAT". Choose Allocation size. For 256Mb MMC select 4K, 128Mb MMC select 2K, 64Mb MMC select 1K and 32Mb MMC select 512B

Some people say it does not work on mmc cards!!

Improve Your Symbian Mobile Sound Quality

The Symbian S60 and UIQ devices use a midi patchset by Beatnik which is built into the ROM.
If you are slightly musical you will be able to tell that this is a highly compressed and reduced patchset.

[Patchset: A file containing samples of the 128 midi instruments and drums needed to play a .mid/midi file.]

Larger patchsets (for a PC) generally have multiple samples per instrument as a piano sounds different in one octave to another.
Small patchsets (e.g. smartphone) can double up (e.g. a “steel guitar” might use the same as a “nylon guitar” to save space.]Â

This patchset is stored in read-only ROM memory at Z:\System\Data\Beatnik\ with the name “patches.hsb”.

[.hsb files are Headspace Sound Banks.]

Although ROM cannot be deleted or replaced, the Symbian devices have a wonderful feature where if you put a file in a directory on C: with the same filename and directory path it will load that file instead of the one in ROM.

Therefore, you can upgrade your Symbian device to have a larger (and better sounding) patchset for playing MIDI files by copying a compatible HSB file to C:\System\Data\Beatnik.
(You have to create the Beatnik sub-directory first as it doesn’t exist on C: by default).

The only place I’ve found to get HSB patchsets free so far is from Sun Microsystems as they also use the exact same format for their Java patchsets.

The default patchset in your Symbian phone is about 100-170k (depending if UIQ or S60 etc).

Small replacement (480kb):
- okay, better than the built-in patchset esp. for piano etc

Midsize replacement (1.1mb):
- sounds more like a PC

Large replacement (5mb):
- Haven’t tried this, But I am uploading this file. Just try it your self.

1. Download the zip file
2. Extract
3. Rename .gm file to patches.hsb
4. Copy to folder C:\System\Data\Beatnik

Notes:
- I’ve found you don’t need to restart the device for changes to take effect after you’ve restarted the first time. e.g. to go back to normal, just rename npatches.hsb in your C: drive to npatches-tmp.hsb(or any other name) and you’ll have the built-in patchset back.
- There is a considerable delay in opening midi files as it loads the new patchset into ram each time.
- This could impinge on copyrights of the patchsets but I don’t see how… just don’t hold me responsible..!!

For N-Gage user:
On the N-Gage the patchset is called NPatches.hsb.Try this at your own risk.

Psiloc Photo Tagger is a tool which automatically tags and renames photos taken by your phone camera. Tags and filenames depends on location information sent by your GSM operator.

Psiloc Photo Tagger requires your GSM operator to provide so called cell info through cell broadcast message. Playing Downloaded games on your PSP

Uncompress the file:
The game will be compressed into a ZIP file archive. Most computers come with a compression utility like Stuffit Expander (Mac) or Winzip (PC) and will automatically "unzip" this file. Once you uncompress this file, you should find two folders called "SmashGpsp" and "SmashGpsp%" as well as a read me file from the author.

Connect the PSP to your computer:
If you haven't already, you need to connect the PSP to your computer with the USB cable that it came with. You will then need to put the PSP into USB mode. Press the HOME button located on the bottom left of your PSP and then scroll left to the SETTINGS column. Scroll down to USB CONNECTION and press X. The Memory Stick inside your PSP will now mount or connect with your computer.

Copy the game onto your PSP:
In order to play this game on your PSP, you must copy it into the proper folder.

The correct file path is PSP > GAME . If you place the game files anywhere else on the Memory Stick, it will not function properly.

If the "PSP" and "GAME" folders don't already exist on your PSP's Memory Stick, then you need to make two new folders and name them in ALL CAPS. Just a reminder, the GAME folder goes inside the PSP folder.

If you take a look at the image to the right, you will see where on your Memory Stick you need to copy the two folders called "SmashGpsp" and "SmashGpsp%".

Play the game on your PSP:
Once the game has finished coping onto your Memory Stick , you can then disconnect the PSP from your computer. From the main menu, scroll over to the GAME column on your Sony PSP and then down to the Memory Stick option.

Press X, and a list of game files will be displayed. Scroll DOWN and you should see the game you just installed.

Press X to play it. Enjoy!

On the pages linked to above, you will find several versions of SmashGpsp available for download. It's important you download the right version for your PSP. Here's some tips:
Download a file that will work with the current version of Firmware installed on your PSP. If you never upgraded the Firmware on your PSP, then you may have version 1.0 installed and will need to download a 1.0 Firmware version of the game (i.e.. SmashGpsp02b10.zip [1.0 PSPs] ). The 02b is the build version of the game, not the Firmware version! To figure out what version of Firmware is installed on your PSP, please read the Firmware tutorial on this page.

You probably want to download the newest version of the game. However this will depend on what version of Firmware is installed on your PSP. At the time this tutorial was written, the latest version of SmashGpsp was 0.2b and was available for PSPs with Firmware version 1.0 and 1.5 only. A newer version of the game and Firmware may be available as you are reading this, but with each Firmware upgrade Sony has tried to block people from using homebrew games. Most homebrew PSP games work with Firmware 1.5 and under only. We will say this one more time, most homebrew PSP games work with Firmware 1.5 and under only. If you get an error that says something like "The data is corrupted" or "The game could not be started" then the Firmware version on your PSP is not compatible with the homebrew game. Please check smashgp.gp32z.com for the latest version of SmashGpsp that may be compatible with your PSP's current Firmware version.

Make sure the file you download ends with "psp" (i.e.. SmashGpsp02b15.zip).
